Lycoming College is hiring a Student Engagement Fellow to join our Academic Services team

The Student Engagement Fellow assists in creating, enhancing, and implementing student programs and activities to foster student engagement. This position supports the efforts of the Dean of Students and the Coordinator of Student Engagement, involving assistance with evening and weekend programming, contributing to student organization advising and development, and support with event planning. The Student Engagement Fellow also helps organize and plan various Student Life divisional events. A key aspect of this role is being attuned to the needs and experiences of Lycoming’s diverse community and adept at supporting and enhancing the campus experience for all.

This position is a full-time 11-month benefits eligible position that is designed to be a one-year position with the ability for re-evaluation at the end of that year term.

What will I do in this role?
  • Assist in supporting Student Life programming initiatives that serve and respect all students, faculty, and staff.
  • Assist in overseeing evening and weekend programming sponsored by the department and student clubs and organizations, which reflects the diversity of the students and fosters a sense of belonging.
  • 3.Assist in promoting and disseminating information about programs, activities, and events, including the semiweekly Weekly Happenings
  • Assist students with logistics for campus programs and activities, including planning for catering, facility use, public safety, buildings and grounds and special equipment; assist with event set up and clean up; aid in parking arrangements, technical requirements, and staffing; attend events and provide on-site assistance.
  • Assist students in coordinating student travel, including reservations, driving, and preparing trip itineraries.
  • Work collaboratively with other Student Life departments to promote student engagement and support for clubs and organizations that nurture inclusion and a sense of connection to the campus and community.
  • Assist the Coordinator of Student Engagement in executing monthly Service Saturday and Community Service programming.
What are we looking for?

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree Required.

Other Requirements:
A valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle record check by guidelines by the College’s insurance.
 
Experience and Qualifications:
  • Commitment to fostering an environment of inclusivity and belonging.
  • Familiarity with or desire to learn basic student leadership development theories.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Keen ability to give attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently on some assignments and projects, as well as collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications and an aptitude for technology.
  • Desire and ability to learn new software applications is required.
  • Ability to work with all students, staff, faculty, administrators, and community members with the utmost respect to who they are as individuals (in their identities and experiences).
  • Effective and professional interpersonal skills (listening, verbal/non-verbal and written communication skills).
  • Ability to develop effective conflict resolution and problem-solving skills that are fair and equitable.
  • Ability to manage individual, group and organizational interactions.
