Lycoming College is hiring a Library Systems Technician to work within Snowden Library.
The Library Systems Technician supports and maintains the backend systems and technology platforms used by Snowden Library, including EBSCO, FOLIO, the Institutional Repository, library databases, authentication tools, and other related systems. This position provides systems support, assists with database access and authentication, coordinates with Information Technology and library vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues, and supports systems updates, migrations, integrations, and ongoing maintenance. The Library Systems Technician works closely with Collection Services staff, Access Services staff, Library personnel, Information Technology, and external vendors to ensure reliable access to library resources and effective operation of library systems.
This is a 1 year full-time temporary position. The position will be reviewed at the end of the first year for potential renewal.

What will I do in this role?
- Provide backend support for library systems, platforms, and electronic resource tools, including EBSCO, FOLIO, the Institutional Repository, library databases, authentication systems, and related applications.
- Assist with configuration, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of library systems to support reliable access for students, faculty, staff, and other authorized users.
- Coordinate authentication and access for library databases and electronic resources in collaboration with Information Technology, library staff, and vendors.
- Investigate and resolve more complex technical issues related to database access, discovery tools, library systems, authentication, integrations, and electronic resource availability.
- Serve as a liaison between library staff, Information Technology, and vendors to communicate issues, gather information, test solutions, and track resolution of systems-related problems.
- Support library systems updates, patches, enhancements, data clean-up projects, migrations, and implementation activities.
- Coordinate with Collection Services staff to support electronic resource access, metadata, holdings information, repository content, and systems-related workflows.
- Document recurring systems issues, troubleshooting steps, vendor communications, configuration changes, and system procedures.
- Monitor library systems and electronic resource platforms for access issues, outages, performance concerns, and user-reported problems.
- Assist library staff with systems-related questions, basic training, workflow guidance, and use of library technology tools.
- Maintain awareness of current library systems, database platforms, vendor updates, and emerging technology practices relevant to academic libraries.
- Coordinate the overall collection management program of Snowden Library, sharing selection responsibilities with Instructional Service Librarians who serve as departmental liaisons and engaging faculty, staff, and students in collection development.
- Manage electronic collections, including eBook programs, electronic journal packages, and streaming video packages.
- Evaluate and maintain plans and procedures for the annual review, assessment, and de-selection of periodicals, serials, and monograph collections in conjunction with academic departments and based on usage data.
- Evaluate the relevance of gift materials to the collection and coordinate the disbursement of unneeded gift materials.
- Keep current with trends in areas of responsibility within technical services and on occasion, perform cataloging duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the mission and operations of Snowden Library and Lycoming College.

Minimum Qualifications required:
- One to two years of work experience in a library setting required.
- Basic knowledge of library databases, catalogs, and electronic research resources required.
- Customer service experience required.
- One to two years of systems support experience required.
- One to two years of vendor management or vendor coordination experience required.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, Information Technology personnel, vendors, and other campus partners.
- Ability to learn, apply, document, and troubleshoot library systems, authentication tools, databases, and related technology platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple systems-related issues or service needs while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, confidentiality, and follow-through.
- Experience working in an academic library environment.
- Familiarity with EBSCO, FOLIO, institutional repositories, discovery platforms, integrated library systems, electronic resource management tools, or authentication systems.
- Experience supporting systems updates, migrations, integrations, testing, or implementation projects.
- Experience working with Information Technology staff or external vendors to troubleshoot and resolve systems or access issues.
