Lycoming College is hiring an Instructional Services Librarian & Coordinator of Digital Experience
Lycoming College, one of the nation’s oldest residential liberal arts and sciences colleges, invites candidates for its Instructional Services Librarian & Assistant Professor role (to begin Summer 2025). With a first-rate undergraduate education and an increased commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable campus community that supports all faculty, staff, and students, we are seeking candidates with diverse backgrounds who can support and contribute to our mission and 2021 strategic plan.The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative, imaginative, and community-focused campus. As part of our vibrant information literacy program, the incumbent will partner closely with faculty and students to design and teach innovative information literacy sessions in disciplines such as Psychology, Criminal Justice, and Political Science. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to and expand on the library’s ongoing creative projects and efforts to provide welcoming, user-centered experiences, especially in the library’s digital spaces. This is a non-tenure track faculty position with responsibilities to participate in campus governance, committee service, and academic advising.

What will I do in this role?
- Design and teach inclusive information literacy sessions for academic departments based on the candidate’s experience and interests as well as campus needs.
- Provide research assistance to students, faculty, and staff with diverse backgrounds.
- Collaborate with academic departments to understand their information needs, as well as gaps in diverse and equitable representation in the library’s holdings, to select appropriate items for the library’s collection.
- Support the maintenance and updates of the library's website.
- Manage project-based improvements to digital services, such as the library’s website, by conducting usability studies.
- Update and create LibGuides that correspond to assigned academic departments.
- Oversee uploads and troubleshoot issues related to the Institutional Repository, ensuring accurate metadata, proper file formatting, and seamless access for users.
- Work together with the Head of Library Systems & Collections on database usability and troubleshooting.
- Assist other Instructional Services Librarians in supporting library outreach events.
- Non-tenure track faculty expectations that begin after one year include advising, campus-wide committees, and faculty governance.
- Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited graduate school or equivalent.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching in an information literacy instruction program and designing inclusive instructional materials.
- Interest in learning new technical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively build relationships with the campus’s student body, faculty, and staff who come from diverse backgrounds.
- Eagerness to provide an inclusive and equitable library environment by learning about the campus’ needs and making recommendations to change services, policies, and procedures based on those needs.
- Exhibits initiative on independent projects and works collaboratively with other librarians and library staff.
- Organizational and time management skills that demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects of varying scopes and priorities.
- Knowledge of current trends and up-to-date practices related to providing inclusive reference services.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with and experience using the ACRL Framework in information literacy instruction.
- Experience teaching and developing inclusive instruction practices for either in-person or online settings.
- Experience with providing reference to individuals with diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of or experience with HTML, Web content management systems, and institutional repository platforms such as DSpace, Digital Commons and Hyku.
- Knowledge of or experience with usability studies, user interface (UI) design, and user experience (UX) design.
